DAFL Round 1. Port Malmö Maulers v Farum Cats, 18 April in Farum.

There’s something about playing Farum that makes Port Malmö News posts short.

The final score was 14.11.95 to 2.0.12, with the 2 goals for the Maulers kicked by Max and Chris M in the last quarter. The Footy Record has all the details.

Elite Series Round 1. Port Malmö Maulers v Södermalm Blues, 25 April in Stockholm.

We were a little disappointed with the turnout, and the score, but sure as hell not the effort. Final score Södermalm 13.10.88 – 6.5.41 Malmö. We’re looking forward to the rematch at home.

Ed took on the role of Captain for the day and did a sterling job with the toss, winning it and sending us to the northern end to put the strong breeze at our backs. We didn’t capitalise on the wind fully, with the first quarter about drawn. The Söder boys then showed us how to use it in the 2nd, and fight it in the 3rd, putting on a solid lead by three quarter time. But in true Mauler spirit, we fought out the final quarter, and are pretty sure we won it.

Az was the player who made the opposition (and the umpire) take notice the most; Ben, Max, Ed, Paul and Brett the new boys on the block who continue to impress and excite; Danny, the wise head in the back line who despite the buggered ribs reads the play like no one else; Ryan fought out his return with a full match in the ruck; Choco, Tony P, Baz and Will also showed up.

Special thanks to Baz and Tony for driving there and back, the three guys from Stockholm – Nick, Hammer, and Phil – for providing the bench and putting in a hard effort on the field, and the lads who took Jacob Lantz to hospital.
