The sun was shining down on old Boldklubb Stefan as the familiar site of the Black and Blue entourage arrived. Port Malmö were set to play the Copenhagen X-men, a team that gives a fair-go despite their lack of success in the 2013 season. Firstly a huge thanks to the X-men for suiting up for the occaision. All the best in the future as your club grows and matures (figuratively speaking).

The first quarter started with Malmö getting shown what happens when you don’t focus on the game from the start. The X-men moved the ball forward with little resistance and put the first goal on the board shortly after they put the first minor score up for the game. Malmö returned to the center for the ball-up, obviously with a new perspective because the second half of the first quarter was a different story entirely. They answered with a five goal haul and good momentum driven by the likes of O’Riordan, Blondeau, and of course Verngren up forward. Malmö 5.4.34 – X-men 1.2.8

Quarter time allowed the Maulers to relax and the X-men to find strength as the scoreline of the second quarter mimicked that of the first. Again Malmö struggled in the first few minutes but fought back to put another four goals on the board by the end of the quarter. Malmö’s defence had not yet figured out how to properly shut down an opponent that the an in-form Maulers have every capability of keeping scoreless for an entire game. Malmö 9.10.64 – X-men 2.4.16

At half time, the wise words of Coach Higgins and Captain McLoughlin must have done the trick because the Maulers came out biting. The X-men put up a hell of a fight as the Maulers shut them down almost entirely. The odds were never stacked in the x-mens favour and it was evident as they only managed to score one point for the rest of the game. The third quarter was Malmö’s highest scoring quarter with 7.3.45 been added to the total. Malmö 16.13.109 – X-men 2.5.17

In the final term Malmö simply finished the job and never let up. The Copenhagen X-men’s season ended with a 116 point thrashing from the boys from southern sweden. Again, big thanks to Eddie and the boys from the Copenhagen X-men for showing true sportsmanship in the face of defeat and never giving up. Great stuff fellas! Final score:  Malmö 19.19.133 – X-men 2.5.17.
